Host Families 2

Host Families

Hosting a Gastonia Grizzlies player is a great opportunity for local families! These young college athletes arrive the third week of May after finishing their college baseball season and academic finals. They call Gaston County home until the second week of August when our season ends and they return to their respective college campus.

Host families are only asked to provide a bedroom, access to a bathroom, and access to laundry. They either have their own vehicle or we coordinate living arrangements so they can ride with a nearby teammate. Obviously leaving snacks for them and including them in the few meals they are home for is appreciated, but not required.

Their schedules are very busy as they only have a handful of days off the entire duration of their time here. With about 60 games a summer, they are often at the ballpark day and night but just need a safe, comfortable place to sleep.

Each host family will receive two general admission season tickets per player so they can come watch their “Boys of Summer” in action! With each general admission season ticket, you’ll get all of the hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, chips, soda and water you want at no additional charge. All of the food and drinks are included with the ticket, your unlimited food and drink is on us!

Please reach out to Stacey at 704-866-8622 or [email protected] if interested in hosting a summer son!

“Each summer our family expands to include Grizzlies players from far and wide. We cheer for them when their own parents can’t be here, and form lasting relationships with them and their families. These are hard-working, dedicated student athletes and role models and it’s an honor to support them towards their dream (It’s amazing what a critical role an occasional sandwich plays!) Our players have kept in touch and we’ve gone to their schools to watch them play, congratulated them on being drafted, and met their girlfriends. It’s great to see where our player’s training and preparation lead them both on the diamond and in life. We’ve enjoyed every minute of it!”
